About Jonathan Kröll
The sketches of Jonathan Kröll are exercises in simplification and reduction. Continuously expanding its visual vocabulary to pierce the emptiness of the whitespace through fragile lines. These fragmented poses challenge expectations. The ambiguous plain lets the viewer focus attention to re-discover seemingly well-known forms. His approach involves repetition to break down drawing-habits and makes room for chance to take part in the process. Deconstructing a model’s pose and reassembling it in an almost mechanical way, thus allowing the sketches to captivate one’s attention. There is no meaning. It is what it is.
